No customer reviews yet. Here's what we do have instead.
We're a new brand, which means we don't have a wall of customer reviews to point to yet. What we do have is a year of testing The Full Phil on ourselves before it ever became a real product, documented the whole way through. We figured that's worth showing rather than just mentioning in passing.
Why we tested on ourselves for a year
When we started, we weren't trying to build something fast. We were trying to build something that actually held up to a full day of real wear on hair like ours, stress-related and age-related thinning, not a photoshoot-ready wig on a mannequin head.
That meant wearing early versions to work, to the gym, on long days, and paying attention to the stuff that doesn't show up in a product photo. Did it feel heavy by hour six? Did the clips dig in anywhere? Did it actually blend, or just look fine from one angle in good lighting?
What didn't work
Honestly, a lot didn't, at first. Early versions used wider wefts that sat on top of our hair instead of within it, which is exactly the bulky look we were trying to avoid in the first place. Some clip configurations looked secure but pulled uncomfortably by the afternoon. A few color batches were close but not quite right once they were under real daylight instead of factory lighting.
Every one of those went back to the drawing board. That's most of what a year of testing actually looks like: small, unglamorous adjustments, over and over, until something finally felt right on an ordinary Tuesday, not just a good-lighting Instagram post.
What we were actually looking for
Three things mattered more than anything else by the end: it had to sit flat instead of adding bulk, it had to feel secure without feeling heavy, and it had to disappear into fine hair rather than sitting on top of it. Once a version passed all three consistently, not just on a good hair day, it moved forward. That's how we landed on the narrower wefts and lighter clips that became The Full Phil.
Where to actually see it
We've been documenting a lot of this on Instagram @philyourhair, including real before-and-after footage from throughout the testing process, not staged studio shots. If you want to see what an actual application looks like on real, thinning hair rather than a product demo, that's the place to look.
Why we're telling you this now
We'd rather be upfront about not having reviews yet than pretend otherwise. What we can offer instead is a genuinely honest look at how this product came to exist, tested by the two of us on our own hair, for our own reasons, before we ever asked anyone else to trust it.
If you end up trying The Full Phil yourself, we'd love for your story to be part of this too. That's really the whole point of Phil: not a brand talking at you, but a conversation we're building together, one real experience at a time.
